Lavender House Scented Sachet. Intarsia Workshop and Free Knitting Pattern.

Last Sunday I was invited to host another fabulous private knitting workshop at a friends house. It was a great, fun packed day. Using the Lavender House Scented Sachet knitting pattern, the girls learnt how to knit intarsia and produced some brilliant little houses.
Lunch was spectacular. Thank you Debbie.

The Small Lavender Scented House Sachet pattern was designed specifically for the knitting in colour workshops at Castaway Yarns in Haxby near York, as a simple introduction to Intarsia.
Charted and written, a very easy pattern to follow and great for using up tiny bits of left over yarn.
After casting on, it's straight into simple intarsia for the door.
The rest of the pattern is easy knitting, in stocking stitch,
with colour changes and decreasing.
The back of the house is a simple stripe.
The front and back are then joined to create the i cord and the flowers are
swiss embroidered with tiny knitted leaves stitched into position.
The pattern doesn't include instructions for the embroidery as the intention is for the knitter to use their own creativity to decorate and personilise their own house!.
Using a stiff absorbent material for the interior.
I used a tiny peice of my table cover (Don't tell my DH, he hasn't noticed yet!!!)
Spray a little Lavender oil onto the absorbent material.
Hang from a hook or display on a shelf.

Lavender House Scented Sachet Free Knitting Pattern
Originally designed for our intarsia knitting workshop. This little Lavender House Scented Sachet is such fun to knit and takes up so little yarn, it’s a perfect stash buster! The pattern is charted and written, the door of the house is knitted using the intarsia technique. The chart can also be used as an intarsia chart using the house as a motif, or several houses could be turned into a cot mobile. The possibilities are endless!
Using any D.K. yarn and 4mm knitting needles, you will also require some absorbent fabric for the interior. We used a cutting from our fabric tablecloth undercover (Don’t tell the DH!!) and squirted some lavender oil onto the fabric. You’ll also need a tapestry needle and small bits of yarn to embroider the flowers and leaves onto the house after it is stitched together. Great air freshners for the room and lovely little gifts!
