Garter Stitch Baby Shoes Free Knitting Pattern


GARTER STITCH BABY SHOES




TO FIT ONE SIZE AGE 0 – 6 MONTHS


MATERIALS
1 x Baby D.K. 50g Ball.
1 pair 4 mm (UK8-USA6) Knitting Needles.
2 Small Buttons.

TENSION: 20 sts and 40 rows to 10cm, 4in over Garter Stitch using
4 mm needles or the size required to give the correct tension.


STRAP SHOES

(ONE SIZE ONLY)
LEFT SHOE.
**Using 4mm needles and thumb method.
Cast on 31 sts.
1st and every alt Row: K.
2nd Row: K1, M1, K14, M1, K1, M1, K14, M1, K1. (35 sts).
4th Row: K2, M1, K14, M1, K3, M1, K14, M1, K2. (39 sts).
6th Row: K3, M1, K14, M1, K5, M1, K14, M1, K3. (43 sts).
8th Row: K4, M1, K14, M1, K7, M1, K14, M1, K4. (47 sts).
9th - 17th Rows: Knit.
18th Row: K15, (SSK) 4 times, K1, (K2 tog) 4 times, K15. (39 sts).
19th Row: Knit.
20th Row: K9, Cast off 21 sts, K8 (9 sts. Including 1 st rem from cast off). Place first set of 9 sts onto stitch holder.**.
Make Button Stand.
21st Row: K9 sts.
22nd Row: K9 sts.
23rd Row: Cast off 9sts.
Cut yarn.
Make Shoe strap.
24th Row: Cast on 12 sts.
25th Row: Knit across the 12 new sts and the 9 sts from the stitch holder (starting from the inside edge of work). (21 sts).
26th Row (Buttonhole Row): K18, K2 tog, yon, K1. (21 sts).
27th Row: Knit.
28th Row: Cast off.


RIGHT SHOE
Work as for Left Shoe from ** to **.
Make Shoe Strap.
21st Row: K9 sts on needle, turn and cast on 12 sts at beg of row. (21 sts).
22nd Row: Knit 21 sts.
23rd Row (Buttonhole Row): K18, K2 tog, yon, K1. (21 sts)
24th Row: Knit 21 sts.
25th Row: Cast off.
Cut yarn.
Make Button stand.

Rejoin yarn to sts on stitch holder.
26th Row: K9 sts.
27th Row: K9 sts.
28th Row: Cast off.


T BAR SHOES
(ONE SIZE ONLY)
LEFT SHOE.
** Work as for Left Strap Shoe to the 19th Row.
20th Row: K9, cast off 9 sts, K3, (Including 1 st rem from cast off) Cast off 9 sts, K9.**.
Make Button Stand.
21st Row: K9, place central 3sts and side 9 sts onto a stitch holder.
22nd Row: K9 sts.
23rd Row: Cast off 9sts.
Cut yarn.
Rejoin the yarn to the 3sts rem on the stitch holder.
Knit 25 rows. Cast off
Make Shoe strap.
24th Row: Cast on 12 sts.
25th Row: Knit across the 12 new sts and the 9 sts from the stitch holder (starting from the inside edge of work). (21 sts).
26th Row (Buttonhole Row): K18, K2 tog, yon, K1. (21 sts).
27th Row: Knit.
28th Row: Cast off.
Rejoin the yarn to the 3 sts rem on the stitch holder.
Knit 25 rows. Cast off.


RIGHT SHOE
Work as for Left T Bar Shoe from ** to **.
Make Shoe Strap
21st Row: K9 sts on needle, turn and cast on 12 sts at beg of row. (21 sts).
22nd Row: Knit 21 sts.
23rd Row (Buttonhole Row): K18, K2 tog, yon, K1. (21 sts)
24th Row: Knit 21 sts.
25th Row: Cast off.
Cut yarn.
Place the central 3 sts onto a stitch holder.
Make Button Stand
Rejoin the yarn to the 9 sts rem on the needle.
26th Row: K9 sts.
27th Row: K9 sts.
28th Row: Cast off.
Rejoin the yarn to the 3 sts rem on the stitch holder.
Knit 25 rows. Cast off.


TO MAKE UP


Fold shoe with WS tog.
Stitch tog back and cast on edge.
Sew strap into position on T bar shoe.
Finish off all loose ends securely. Attach Button.
See ball band for pressing and care instructions.

  3. 4ply is good.... suggest using smaller size knitting needles for 4ply......correct size needle will be recommended on the ball band of the yarn.
    Hope this helps.

  6. I made these, but I did them in stocking stitch and then made a matching hat with a bow on it. I'm pregnant so I'm enjoying knitting ad thank you, they are very very cute.
